Position Description/Responsiblities:
19th Century Willowbrook Village, Newfield, ME seeks a new Director to oversee its rural campus of over 20 buildings and extensive 19th century collections. The Board is committed to enhancing Willowbrook’s professionalism and securing its financial future. It seeks an energetic and communicative leader to strengthen the museum’s educational goals and further interpret its collections. This is a hands-on position for the museum’s only professionally trained staff member; the museum has an annual budget of $200,000, about 10 part-time staff and an annual visitation of approximately 6,000.

Responsibilities include curatorial and interpretive oversight, development and implementation of educational programs, grant writing and development, membership enhancement, fundraising, community outreach, planning, budgeting and overall administration of the site and staff. This is a very critical time for Willowbrook. While working to ensure the future, our reserve funds and income are such that we currently can only remain open for the 2012 and 2013 seasons.

Desired Qualifications:
Candidates must have at least five (5) years of successful museum or cultural management and fundraising experience, and knowledge of standards and practices for history museums and historic properties. A master’s degree or equivalent in history, museum studies or related field is desirable. Salary $42-45,000 + benefits.
