Education: School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Master of Fine Art, 1983 Virginia Commonwealth University, Bachelor of Fine Art, 1981 Bellevue Community College, Nonprofit Fundraising and Grant Writing, 2004 Professional Experience: I have a personal history as both an artist and a professional arts administrator. I received an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University. I have resided in Richmond, VA, Chicago, IL, Seattle, WA, and currently in Salem, OR. I currently create fine art prints and photography in Salem, OR. My most recent career involvement was with Oregon Alliance for Arts Education, which is affiliated, with Kennedy Center Alliance for Arts Education Network. At OAAE, I planned and directed Oregon Teacher Arts Institute and revitalized OAAE’s Creative Ticket Awards. I founded Sedrat Arts (http://sedrat.org/) in late 2004. Sedrat Arts has been dedicated to finding creative solutions to arts funding issues and assisting artists and arts organizations in organizational development and project completion. Sedrat Arts was a sponsor and presenter of West Edge Sculpture Invitational from 2004 – 2008. I was previously Executive Director of Center on Contemporary Art, Seattle. CoCA Seattle. During my tenure, Center on Contemporary Art produced such landmark exhibitions as Blurred, Crossroads, People Doing Strange Things With Electricity, Neoqueer, and Domicile. My professional arts career has included service to many commercial and nonprofit galleries, private collections, and the Illinois Arts Council as Assistant Curator. Previous to the Center on Contemporary Art, I was Collection Manager at Chihuly Studio, Inc. and owned and operated Art Shuttle, Inc. based in Chicago for over 10 years. Applicable Skills: Knowledgeable and proficient in computer applications including Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, In Design and Dreamweaver. Communications management abilities including most social networking applications.
