I have been volunteering for a year at a historical society and currently at the Georgia Archives. I am seeking full-time work in archives or record management for a beginning archivist. Organized self starter who is used to dealing with new computer systems. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Education: Florida State University, Tallahassee, FL Master of Science in Library and Information Studies expected August 2009. University of Georgia, Athens, GA Bachelor of Arts in Journalism (TV and Radio Production), minor in Drama, 1987. Professional Experience: Georgia Archives Intern (May 2009-Present) Intern learning archives duties and functions including public programs, reference, preservation and organization. Attend Georgia Archives Institute for two week intensive training in archives. DeKalb History Center Volunteer and Intern (May 2008-Present) Conduct research and support, answer genealogy, government and DeKalb County information requests. Write newsletter articles, display information and community history information for the Center and for patrons. Organize and preserve VHS interview collection to DVD, including maintaining equipment. Catalog and organize acquisitions for inclusion in Past Perfect museum software. Research, organize and train others in negative digitization project. Turner Entertainment Networks Live Event Associate Director, Broadcast Operations Center (2000-2007) Coordinated functions of Master Control, remote trucks and studio control rooms as an associate director for professional sports and major awards shows. Organized and maintained graphics network and ran graphics machines for air during live shows in control room. Cable News Network Video Journalist, Tape Operator, Electronic Graphics and Font Coordinator (1989-1996) Promoted to font coordinator after service as font operator for four years. Collaborated with select group of colleagues sent to provide remote coverage of 1996 Democratic and Republican conventions as operator, setup, maintenance, part-time supervising and tear down. Worked as team member with crew covering the Oklahoma bombing, O.J. Simpson Trial, 1991 Gulf War and 1996 Olympic Park Bombing. Applicable Skills: I am attending the Society of American Archivists conference in August and taking a two-day Understanding Archives program, and attending the two-week intensive 2009 Georgia Archives Instituter in June. I am interning at the Georgia Archives now and have been volunteering at the DeKalb History Center for over a year. Windows software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, OneNote, Publisher and Outlook Museum and archives software such as Past Perfect, Pachyderm and OpenCollection; built a small 3D exhibit in Second Life.
