Headline: Historian / Archives/ museums! Willing to relocate and wants to work full time

I have taking classes in archives and have worked in the University Archives for the last two year. My goals is to be working in either a museum, archives or public history setting. I'm really open to do about any job in the field so I can gain some more experience. How the dream is to be working for a major museum. Education: MA: History December 2010 Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Indiana, Pennsylvania BA: History Minor: Womens Studies December 2009 California University of Pennsylvania, California, Pennsylvania Professional Experience: Special Collections and Archives Indiana University of Pennsylvania Indiana, Pennsylvania August 2009- Present Processed and re-housed approximately fifteen or more collections, including The University School, University Senate Minutes, and University Trustee minutes. Helped Students and Faculty with their research. While the department head was preparing for the University Museum display on coal culture, I picked up extra hours in the archives to help out. Intern in Visitors Services, United States Holocaust Museum Washington D.C. Summer of 2010 Directed and welcomed visitors in the Museum and on the Mall in Washington D.C. Worked on special projects for the Museum. This included working on the photo team, conducting interviews on other interns and Holocaust survivors and research projects. I conducted surveys about how visitors view and feel about the museum. I also had the opportunity to train new interns on the different jobs in Visitor Services. Im currently going through training to become a manager. Volunteer, Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation Williamsburg, Virginia Fall 2001-Present Did odd jobs for the foundation i.e. cleaning and setting up for events. Arranged dinner for the student Volunteers. Assisted and encouraged high-school students get involved in the schedule programs and events. Helped other re-enactors set up their camps. Tour guide/ Volunteer, Nemacolin Castle Brownsville, Pennsylvania Summer 2001-Fall 2003 Gave historic and Ghost tours of the house and policed the grounds. Arranged large group tours that came to the house, most on a tight schedule. Applicable Skills: I know how to use adobe programs and MS word, powerpoint, excel, etc. Other: I was a local judge at history day at the University. |
