Under the supervision of the Curator in Charge of AOA, the Associate Curator provides support for the development, management, and day-to-day operations of the Ancient American and Native American art collections. Desired Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications Education and Training: A Masters Degree in Art History with specialization in the field assigned; Ph.D. highly desirable. Fluency in Spanish. Work Experience: Requires at least three years of curatorial experience in the field assigned. Skills and Abilities: -Knowledge of the methods, techniques and procedures involved in the maintenance and care of a museum collection of fine arts. Interest in expanding existing knowledge. -Knowledge of art history; the national and international community of art scholars; and the art market. Interest in expanding existing knowledge. -Ability to effectively teach about the arts of the Americas and inspire viewers through public lectures, gallery presentations, video presentations and print media -Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the general public and outside organizations. - Excellent written and oral communication skills -Familiarity and proficiency with museum collections management software -Adherence to deadlines -Flexibility in meeting shifting demands and priorities -Strong interpersonal and organization skills -Desire to function in a team-oriented environment -Ability to achieve and sustain best curatorial practices and ethical standards of the field -Sensitivity and awareness of cultural property Issues This position is eligible for a full benefits package including medical, dental and vision insurance, and a generous time off package.
