Name: Tegan D'Arcangelis Baiocchi Email Address: tegan.baiocchi@hotmail.com Current Location: Durand, Michigan, United States Preferred Job Category: Curator Personal Statement: I am seeking a position in a small to medium size institution where I can put my education to work in the real world, preferrably working as a curator or registrar. Education: I have a Bachelor of the Arts degree in Public History from Western Michigan University where I learned the basics of architectural history, research techniques, archives, and professional writing skills. In conjunction with my professors, I conducted and transcribed oral history interviews, gathered information for an exhibit from primary and secondary sources, and performed an analysis of an artifact storage area. In April 2009, I will graduate with an MS in Historic Preservation from Eastern Michigan University. My coursework has focused on heritage interpretation, historical administration, American decorative arts, and an introduction to curatorship, in addition to classes dealing with historic preservation, adaptive reuse, research techniques, and documentation. I am familiar with the ethics and issues regarding collections stewardship, as well as the connection between curatorship and programming. Professional Experience: I am currently the assistant village program supervisor for Crossroads Village and Huckleberry Railroad, an outdoor living history village in Flint, Michigan. I am responsible for supervision of employed and volunteer interpreters, development, research, and application of new daily programs and special events; purchasing and ordering of supplies; assisting in interviewing and training new staff; and designing and editing various types of program literature, in addition to other responsibilities. I have also been employed as a Civil War diary transrciber at the Western Michigan University Archives and Regional History Library, during which I not only read and transcribed text from Civil War diaries into a specially designed computer database, but also performed research for patrons, organized and inventoried recently accessioned materials, and replaced books and boxes used by archives patrons. Applicable Skills: I am very proficient working with the computer. I type 73wpm and am knowledgeable with Microsoft Office, Lexus/Nexus, digital Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps, Google, numerous photograph editing software, etc. Other: I am a member of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, Michigan Historic Preservation Network, and Preservation Eastern. My application is pending for the Daughters of the American Revolution. |
