Position Description/Responsiblities:
The Carl & Mary Koehler History Center seeks an experienced Director of Development to develop, implement, and refine a strategic plan to secure resources that support the mission of preserving, interpreting, presenting, and sharing the history of Linn County, Iowa. The Director of Development will work closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to identify and approach major donors and corporate partners. The Director of Development will also oversee the semi-annual fundraising campaign, the membership program, and the annual fundraising event and work with staff and volunteers to manage the donor database.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Implement a development plan with objectives, timelines, and evaluation methods.
2. Establish, monitor, and report fundraising goals and revenues to the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
3. Research, develop, and implement new strategies and best practices to strengthen current development efforts.
4. Grow revenue by broadening the support base through innovative campaign efforts.
5. Grow, implement, and manage current and prospective donor base and assure timely follow-through and appropriate recognition of donors.
6. Motivate and coach staff, board, and volunteers for maximum performance in raising funds.

Desired Qualifications:
Qualifications:
1. BA in Management, Business, or other related field.
2. Minimum two years in resource development with a successful record of building and maintaining relationships with donors and corporate partners.
3. Outstanding communication skills including listening, writing, and public speaking.
4. Experience with computer technology and familiarity with database systems.
5. Previous experience in training and engaging others to be involved in fundraising efforts.
