Cool Hiring Grant Writers

I'm looking for information on how much grant writers usually charge an institution for their services. For those of you who use outside grant writers, do you include the cost of the grant writer in the grant or do you pay the grant writer up front. I would assume that if you do it the first way, the grant writer would go unpaid if the grant is not funded. Is there an average price that grant writers charge (per hour/per grant/etc.) Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated!

Default grant writer

Grant writers are paid either per project or hourly. They are paid whether the grant is funded or not. Your local non-profit service organization should have names of freelance grant writers in your area. The Foundation Center is also a good resource for all things grant-related.
