Throughout my time in different museums I have gained invaluable knowledge regarding program development as well as visitor interactions. Through these experiences I was able to sharpen my research skills as well as become familiar with state educational standards and incorporating them into the core of a program. I am eager to employ the skills that I have learned through my experiences and expand my knowledge of the field. Education: Bachelor of Arts in History of Art and a minor in Business The Ohio State University: Columbus, OH Expected March 2010 Professional Experience: Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum: St.Michaels, MD June 2009-September 2009 Education Intern: Taught collaboratively a daily Kid’s Club summer camp for 3 to 6 year olds. Developed and managed bi-weekly family drop in activities. Researched and designed a family craft activity for the Chesapeake Folk Festival. Discussed with visitors a variety of aspects of the museum through weekly “Hot Topic Talks”. Augmented the school tour mailing list by adding home schools and private schools. Examined museum’s exhibitions to create lesson plans for a pilot after school program. Assembled multiple scavenger hunts for visitors and school groups. Columbus Museum of Art: Columbus, OH August 2007-June 2009 Education Intern and Tour & Docent Assistant: Developed a 5th grade tour utilizing education standards which revolved around a traveling Chihuly exhibition. Cultivated relationships with local artists to collaborate with the museum’s outreach programs. Managed all tour reservations as well as the docent scheduling on Patron’s Edge software. Aided in the design and guided students in a pilot preschool tour program.Assisted the internship coordinator in revamping the internship program and recruiting new interns.
