Default Need Venue for International Exhibition – Have Sponsor!!!

Hello everyone,

My organization, Art Works For Change, is seeking a Canadian host venue for our international, contemporary art exhibition "Off the Beaten Path: Violence, Women & Art." We do have a Canadian sponsor who is looking to give to a Canadian host to off-set the participation fees and possibly shipping. The exhibition addresses a very critical issue and features renowned artists such as Marina Abramovic, Louise Bourgeois, Mona Hatoum, Yoko Ono, among others. More about the exhibition:

Off the Beaten Path: Violence, Women and Art, touring globally through 2014, brings together artworks by 30 artists from around the world to explore violence against women and girls and their basic human rights to a safe and secure life. The exhibition combines the highest integrity of art with important social messaging and storytelling to create awareness, inspiration for action, and address systems for positive social change.

Off the Beaten Path, produced by the nonprofit Art Works for Change, opened in 2009 at the Stenersen Museum in Oslo, Norway. Thereafter it traveled to the University of California, San Diego Art Gallery and the Centro Cultural Tijuana, the Museo Universitario del Chopo, Mexico City and will soon open at the Chicago Cultural Center. The exhibition has been well received by both the media and audiences. We are pleased to announce that Off the Beaten Path will be traveling Atlanta, Dallas, New Orleans, Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Geneva through 2014. Art Works for Change has created an online version of the exhibition for your review, as well as online access to press coverage, including the exhibition press release, which can be found here:

The exhibition requires approximately 5000 square feet of space (500 sq meters) including designated rooms for video installation though the exhibition can be adapted for smaller spaces. If your space cannot accommodate the whole show, we would still be happy to discuss this with you. The exhibition is comprised of a variety of media including photography, video, painting, installation, and sculpture.

The participating artists include: Marina Abramovic; Laylah Ali; Amnesty Sweden Campaign; Lise Bjorne; Louise Bourgeois; Magda Campos-Pons; Patricia Evans; Maimuna Feroze-Nana; Luciana Fina; Mona Hatoum; Icelandic Love Corp; Yoko Inoue; International Rescue Committee; Jung Jung Yeob; Amal Kenawy; Myung Jin Kim; Hung Liu; Almagul Menlibayeva; Gabriela Morawetz; Wangechi Mutu; Miri Nishri; Yoko Ono; Cecilia Paredes; Susan Plum; Cima Rahmankhah; Joyce J. Scott; Jaune Quick-to-See Smith; Masami Teraoka; Hank Willis Thomas; and Miwa Yanagi.

Please contact me for the full exhibition proposal, requirements, and Canadian sponsorship details. We, as well as the sponsor, are eager to bring the exhibition to Canada preferably late spring – summer 2012 (however our dates are flexible).

Thank you very much.

Sincerely,
Alesha
