The Musical Instrument Museum (MIM) celebrates the history and diversity of musical instruments from countries and cultures around the world.  The museum’s new 190,000 square-foot building opened to the public on April 24, 2010 and contains approximately 75,000 square feet of gallery space.<br />

POSITION DESCRIPTION<br />
<br />
MIM seeks a highly motivated individual to fill the position of Assistant Registrar.  The Assistant Registrar will participate in all aspects of registration and collections management activities for MIM as it builds an outstanding collection of musical instruments. This position will report to the Head of Registration &amp; Collections Management and work closely with staff in MIM departments, including Conservation, Curatorial, Exhibits, Education, Operations, and Security. <br />

The Assistant Registrar is a full-time regular position and includes benefits.  Salary will be commensurate with experience.  This is a senior level position within the Registration &amp; Collections Management Department.<br />
<br />
Primary Responsibilities: <br />
<br />
•Arrange packing and shipping of objects from every region of the world.  Prepare all necessary customs documentation for international shipments including CITES import permits. <br />
•Create and maintain object, archives, and audiovisual media collection records (manual and electronic), including acquisition, accession, provenance, condition, location, and other records.<br />
•Input and update collection data into MIM’s collection database, TMS, as needed.  Provide and create database searches and reports as needed by all museum departments. Assist with general museum-wide support for TMS users as needed.<br />
•Manages all logistics and paperwork for outgoing loans (loan agreements; receipts; object checklists; crate and packing lists; packing, crating and transportation logistics; and courier documents).<br />
•Work closely with Conservation, assist with the handling, packing, and inspection of all objects entering or leaving the museum; inspect condition of museum objects; assist in collections inventories.<br />
•Assist in the routine care and maintenance of object storage areas, ensuring the security of collections, monitoring environmental conditions in permanent storage, and making storage mounts.  <br />
•Assist with the unpacking and re-housing of the permanent collection in the new collections storage area.<br />
•Provide back-up to the Exhibition Registrar as needed to assure the complete and timely installation of objects on exhibit.<br />
•Arrange access to the collection for MIM staff and visiting scholars.  Respond to research inquiries and other requests from institutions and the public.<br />
•Supervise the work of volunteers and student assistants as needed.<br />
•Manage and assist in selected special projects and performs other related duties, as assigned.<br />
<br />
<font color="black">Desired Qualifications:</font> <br />
•M.A. degree in Museum Studies preferred with 3 additional years of related experience demonstrating progressively responsible positions working with a collection. B.A. in Museum Studies, Anthropology, or related field plus 5 years of related experience may be considered.<br />
•Advanced knowledge of accepted standards and practices for museum registration and collections management, as well as legal and ethical issues required.<br />
•Must have at least two years of international shipping experience.  Must be familiar with US Fish and Wildlife permit processes.<br />
•Experience with collections management databases, cataloging standards, and controlled vocabularies.  Familiarity with TMS is preferred, but not required.<br />
•Must be technically literate including experience with collections management databases, file naming, online research, and spreadsheets.<br />
•Ability to problem-solve, work independently and excel in a high performance, team-oriented culture.<br />
•Strong writing and collaborative interpersonal skills.<br />
•Some travel may be required.<br />
•Ability to lift 50 pounds and climb a step ladder.<br />
•Valid driver’s license.<br />

RESPONSIBILITIES:                      The Rauh Jewish Archives is a component of the Library and Archives Division of the Senator John Heinz History Center.  The project archivist position is funded for one year.  <br />

The position includes, but is not limited to, the following professional tasks:  processing collections, writing finding aids and creating MARC records; marking up finding aids in EAD; digitizing photographs and creating metadata; transcribing oral histories; digitizing analog tapes; and providing reference service.  The archivist will also assist in staffing the Rauh Jewish Archives Advisory Committee; supervise interns and volunteers; and perform other duties as assigned.  The project archivist will work under the supervision of the Archivist, Rauh Jewish Archives.<br />

<font color="black">Desired Qualifications:</font> <br />
One yearexperience with preparing finding aids, EAD, MARC, DACS, and LC Subject Headings expected. Master's degree from an ALA-accredited program with a concentration in archival management strongly preferred, but a Master's degree in American history/studies or public history or related discipline with relevant experience in an archival repository may be substituted.<br />

The Illinois Historic Preservation Agency (IHPA) Board of Trustees is beginning a search on behalf of the Governor of Illinois that will lead to the Governor's appointment of a new director of the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum (ALPLM) sometime this fall.<br />

The ALPLM Director is responsible for the administration, operations, exhibits, programs, educational outreach, scholarly initiatives, collections and promotion of the ALPLM and its complex in downtown Springfield, Illinois. The complex includes a reference library, museum, fully restored historic train station that serves as a visitor's center and staging area, parking garage, and a small park.<br />
<br />
The ALPLM Director oversees a staff of 85 state employees and a current budget of $10 million. There are 500 trained volunteers.<br />
<br />
<font color="black">Desired Qualifications:</font> <br />
The candidate should be familiar with Illinois history, the Lincoln world, and national historical and cultural institutions. Success seeking funding sources for program support is a significant part of the job.<br />

The East Texas Research Center (ETRC) at Stephen F. Austin State University seeks to fill the position of Archives &amp; Repository Librarian. This is a faculty-status position responsible for implementing and coordinating the processing and digitization of university archival materials in all formats for inclusion in the university’s institutional repository. The successful candidate will also be responsible for coordinating and maintaining the university’s Records Management Program in accordance with standards established by the Texas State Library. S/he will perform inventories of record storage areas and coordinate scheduling of records disposition.<br />

Under the direction of the Henricus Historical Park Education Supervisor, responsible for booking and scheduling area school district field trips to Henricus Historical Park; teaching all grade level SOL- and age- appropriate (Pre-K - adult) programs, five weekdays per week. Will provide program materials upkeep and some lesson plan and educational information packet revisions. Responsible for researching and learning educational information for each program to be implemented for various age groups. High school diploma or GED and two years of college coursework required; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. New England Quilt Museum seeks a dynamic individual to serve as a primary staff member responsible for all marketing, advertising, and promotional activities, overseeing and facilitating these activities with the purpose of creating public awareness of the organization and generating interest in its exhibitions and special events. The ability to juggle multiple priorities is a must; strong marketing, promotions, and/or advertising skills, strong writing skills and ability to communicate ideas effectively, and fluency in major graphic design software as well as Microsoft Office Suite and Dream Weaver required. Four-year college degree and at least 3-5 years experience preferred.  An appreciation for quilting and textile arts helpful, but a head for strategic marketing and the ability to see the big picture while handling daily details is most important. <font color="black">Position Description/Responsiblities:</font> <br />
Summary of Responsibilities: GALLERY TEACHER, part-time with competitive hourly rate of pay for immediate opening! The Amon Carter Museum of American Art seeks new, qualified applicant to fill the remaining vacancy on its team of Gallery Teachers who develop and conduct specialized student tours at the museum under the supervision of the Teacher and School Programs Manager. This exciting opportunity will allow the new Gallery Teacher to:<br />
<br />
1. Contribute to the development of tours and conduct tours of the Amon Carter for students from district-wide K-12 programs, individual schools, homeschool groups, and Girl Scouts.<br />
<br />
2. Receive consistent, quality training on the museum’s collection and special exhibitions; stay informed about museum and school program news. <br />
<br />
3. Share knowledge of the exhibition schedule and museum services with teachers and students.<br />
<br />
<font color="black">Desired Qualifications:</font> <br />
The successful candidate will possess a B.A. degree in art history, American history, art education, museum education, education, or another related field (knowledge of American art preferred); previous museum docent or gallery teaching experience and/or experience with teaching students in a classroom or informal learning environment is required, as are strong public speaking and presentation skills and dependability. Spanish language, experience using ESL teaching strategies, and knowledge of special needs populations preferred.<br />
