RESPONSIBILITIES:                      The Rauh Jewish Archives is a component of the Library and Archives Division of the Senator John Heinz History Center.  The project archivist position is funded for one year.  <br />

The position includes, but is not limited to, the following professional tasks:  processing collections, writing finding aids and creating MARC records; marking up finding aids in EAD; digitizing photographs and creating metadata; transcribing oral histories; digitizing analog tapes; and providing reference service.  The archivist will also assist in staffing the Rauh Jewish Archives Advisory Committee; supervise interns and volunteers; and perform other duties as assigned.  The project archivist will work under the supervision of the Archivist, Rauh Jewish Archives.<br />
<br />
<font color="black">Desired Qualifications:</font> <br />
One yearexperience with preparing finding aids, EAD, MARC, DACS, and LC Subject Headings expected. Master's degree from an ALA-accredited program with a concentration in archival management strongly preferred, but a Master's degree in American history/studies or public history or related discipline with relevant experience in an archival repository may be substituted.<br />

The East Texas Research Center (ETRC) at Stephen F. Austin State University seeks to fill the position of Archives &amp; Repository Librarian. This is a faculty-status position responsible for implementing and coordinating the processing and digitization of university archival materials in all formats for inclusion in the university’s institutional repository. The successful candidate will also be responsible for coordinating and maintaining the university’s Records Management Program in accordance with standards established by the Texas State Library. S/he will perform inventories of record storage areas and coordinate scheduling of records disposition.<br />

This is a professional position requiring a high level of skill and<br />
competency and the ability to work with limited supervision and make<br />
duty-related decisions. The Project Manager/Cataloger will perform a<br />
variety of duties in order to achieve the goals stated in an<br />
IMLS-funded project, namely, to digitize, catalog and make available<br />
over 7,000 images from the E.H. Davis Collection of American Indian<br />
images. The project Manager/Cataloger will be responsible for planning<br />
the project, ensuring that milestones are met, writing reports, doing<br />
research, and cataloging photographs and drawings from the E.H. Davis<br />
Collection in collaboration with members of the local American Indian<br />
Community as well as scholars.  SDHC also plans to invite social<br />
tagging of the newly-created collection records via the web.  The<br />
Project Manger/Cataloger will work on the social tagging dimension in<br />
coordination with the Balboa Park Online Collaborative. This will be a<br />
full-time position for a period of 18 months. The Project<br />
Manager/Cataloger must have a professional demeanor at all times, with<br />
a strong work ethic, high energy and enthusiasm and must be<br />
detail-oriented.<br />

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):<br />

The Columbia University Rare Book and Manuscript Library is searching for an experienced archivist to process the papers of Albert Ellis (1913-2007). Ellis is generally considered to be one of the originators of the cognitive revolutionary paradigm shift in psychotherapy and the founder of cognitive-behavioral therapies. He was the president and president emeritus of the Albert Ellis Institute, based in New York City. This position will be funded for a period of 18 months from the date of hire with the possibility of extension. Reporting to the Curator of Manuscripts and University Archivist, the Project Archivist will be responsible for the oversight of arrangement and description and appropriate archival housing; identification and referral of items as necessary for conservation treatment; and the preparation of an EAD-encoded finding aid and other descriptive access tools. In addition, the project archivist will establish and regularly update a blog that will explore the arrangement and description of the collection, but also utilize the material to contextualize Ellis's place within the field of behavioral therapy. The project archivist will coordinate the activities of work-study students that are assigned to assist with arrangement and description of manuscript and archival collections; assign tasks and monitor pace and direction of work; maintain schedules and meet deadlines. The project archivist submits regular reports on manuscript and archival processing, and supports and participates in reference and public service.<br />

Under the supervision of the Curator of History, the Archivist/Research Librarian oversees the day to day operation of the Museum's William Green Memorial Library and the Archives, as well as provides both institutional and online research services for the staff and the general public.<br />

The William Green Memorial Library houses more than 6000 volumes and reflects the Museum’s collections of both science and history. This non-circulating library serves the community, volunteers and staff.  Highlights of the Museum Library include:<br />
<br />
Books on Pre-Columbian Art collected by former Curator Aubyn Kendall, museology, Texana (people, history and Texas life), astronomy (The Charlie Mary Noble Astronomy Library), material culture, local history, the WPA Texas Writer’s Project on microfilm, the Southwestern Historical Quarterly from 1897 to the present, National Geographic from 1914 to the present, and Museum News from 1948 to the present.<br />
<br />
The Institutional Archives of the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History traces the history of the Museum, from its planning in 1939 by members of the Fort Worth chapter of Administrative Women in Education, to the present.  The archives consist of exhibit files, posters, videos and photographs and miscellaneous ephemera.<br />
<br />
The Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show Archives: Documenting an important part of Fort Worth history since it’s beginning in 1896, these archives consist of 30 linear feet of news clipping scrapbooks starting in 1939, rodeo programs, rodeo badges, posters and photographs. The Stock Show archives are available, for informational and educational purposes only, to researchers by appointment.  Requests for copies of materials are jointly reviewed by the Museum and the Stock Show. <br />
<br />
Major General William Jenkins Worth Archives consists of 6 boxes of information on the namesake of our city collected and donated by local Fort Worth scholar Bill Turner.  Highlights include sheet music of the General Worth March and a contemporary account of Worth’s funeral.<br />
<br />
Acquired in 1989, the Scott and Stuart Gentling Archives is composed of materials related to the creation of their Of Birds and Texas elephant folio book and paintings.  The Museum is proud to have the 42 original paintings in our collection. Artist Stuart Gentling attributed his love of painting birds to an Audubon book he discovered as a child in the Museum’s library.<br />

Specific Duties:<br />

The Archivist/Librarian would be responsible for generating and maintaining records on library holdings and acquisitions, as well as order and process books and periodicals (accession, catalog, label books).<br />

The Archivist/Librarian would also be responsible for organizing the Institutional Archives, and processing various types of materials and media, including photographs, videos, films, slides, posters, scrapbooks, newspaper clippings, artifacts, blue prints and plans pertaining to the history of the Museum.  This person will also maintain the Gentling Bird Painting and General Worth Archives, well as the Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show Archives.  The Archivist/Librarian will maintain a close working relationship with Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo’s Publicity Manager and will facilitate periodic ongoing donations to the collection, as well as assist researchers wanting to use this collection.<br />

Additional Duties Include:<br />
<br />
•Gathering research information for exhibits, loan kits, public inquiries and artifact identification, as well as serve on committees on exhibit planning and execution.<br />
<br />
•Answering public inquiries over the phone, through emails and in person on requested topics; this includes artifact identification.<br />
<br />
•Supervising volunteers that help with library and archival work.<br />
<br />
•Undertaking special assignments as directed by the Curator of History, Curator of Science, Chief Operating Officer,  and the President of the Museum<br />

•Archival/Library experience<br />
<br />
•Graduate degree in Information Science, Archives, Museum Studies or similar field<br />
<br />
•Experience with museum cataloguing software, Past Perfect and Rediscovery preferred.<br />
<br />
•Self directed and motivated, and the ability to work alone and/or as part of team.<br />
