There's been some discussion about what types of applications/platforms museums use for their kiosks. When paying a developer or media company to design a custom solution is out of the question, what would you recommend?
I've had some success supporting the Windows XP Shared Computer Toolkit... now called Windows SteadyState http://www.microsoft.com/windows/pro...s/default.mspx. Vista and XP have the ability to lockdown the desktop with local policies... and if the machine is joined to the domain, group policy is an option. These haven't been for Museum specific kiosks but they seemed to do the trick in terms of limiting access to Internet Explorer and other applications. Last edited by JJ A; 05-01-2008 at 04:50 AM. |
