Position Description/Responsiblities:
Do you enjoy working with animals?

Gain experience working behind-the-scenes in the aquarium at the Berkshire Museum. Assist with animal handling and feeding, important maintenance and replacement of equipment, and regular water quality testing. Interns will perform research on the care of living collections as directed, and will develop and deliver an interactive program demonstrating water quality testing for the public.

Hours, schedule and credit:

The internship weekly schedule will be determined based entirely upon the candidate's summer schedule. A minimum of ten hours per week is expected; these hours must fall between Monday-Friday from 9:00am-5:00pm. Housing and daily transportation to/from Berkshire Museum will be the responsibility of the successful candidate. We are happy to work with the intern's academic program to provide credit for the internship period.

Desired Qualifications:
Internships are open to qualified college students, recent graduates or graduate students with a major in biology (especially marine biology), natural resources, environmental science or related field. Successful applicants will have a strong interest in animal husbandry, aquarium or zoo management, and programming in zoo/aquarium/museum settings. Good interpersonal, organizational, and mechanical skills are also important.
