- Right now I love my position as an Intern, but am actively searching for full time employment in the field of Registrar/Collections. I have my Bachelor of Science in History with a minor in Anthropology. Recently I received my Master of Arts in Liberal Studies with a focus in History. While working at the Porter County Public Library, I mastered various methods of cataloging, the complex computer systems and the proper techniques of paper conservation. In Genealogy, I encountered a large donation of Circuit Court Case some of which dated back over a hundred years. Quickly learning the proper care and handling of the documents, it became my responsibility to transfer the information found in the court cases to an Excel file that in turn would become an easily accessible database for library patrons.
As an intern at the Brauer Museum of Art, I have worked closely with the Registrar handling loans, protecting the collection and working with the accession files. Working with the collection on hands on basis has given me a chance not simply to view incredible pieces of art, but to learn how to properly care for each item. Besides the material minding of the collection, I also learned of the importance of the paper trail. Updating the database, filling out acquisition forms for new objects and researching works and artists for the files were some of my duties while assisting the Registrar.
