I am researching some cost-effective ways to store framed and unframed stretched canvasses. I'm planning on creating vertical storage racks for them. Does anyone know if it would be better to use wood or PVC pipe? Or does anyone have a system that has worked for them?
Thanks, Anne |

Hi Anne,
Definitely steer clear of PVC pipe as it off gasses and is not good for collections. If you do use wood, be sure to seal it to keep the wood from off gassing. We have small metal racks for our paintings. I wrap any unframed works in glassine and place corrugated board between each piece. Oil paintings are among the most beautiful and realistic, with their texture and depth bringing a photograph-like quality to painting. Oil paint is a simple mixture of pigment and oil, usually linseed, walnut, or poppy oil.
