Position Description/Responsiblities:
AMERICAN AIRLINES C.R. SMITH MUSEUM RETAIL STORE MANAGER - Summary of Responsibilities: Responsible for overall management of American Airlines C.R. Smith Museum Gift Shop. Applicant should be proficient in all aspects of retail sales operations including marketing, in-store design and merchandising, purchasing, and budget development. Manager will supervise staff and plan and implement work schedules to ensure sufficient coverage. Strong product knowledge and experience in museum trends; development of proprietary/branded merchandise including product design, sourcing, procurement, pricing, timely delivery, and profitability; strategic planning and implementation of promotions for in-store events, museum programs, seasonal merchandising themes, book signings, etc. Manager should be proficient in ordering products, as well as performing inventory controls and forecasting/planning business activity, including regular reviews of sales reports, analysis of sales trends, and adjustment of inventory and purchases accordingly. The manager will ensure that daily, weekly, monthly reports are accurate for accounting purposes.
Previous management of museum and/or hospitality industry gift shop is strongly recommended. Experience in on-line sales management and developing internet sales is highly desirable. Working knowledge of POS cash systems and superior customer service skills are essential. As Museum Gift Shop is a major revenue resource of the Museum facility, hours of operation are varied, and include nights, some holidays, and weekends.

Desired Qualifications:
Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED. College degree preferred or equivalent experience. Five years retail gift shop experience, preferably in museum setting. Strong organizational, interpersonal, oral and written skills. Experience in working effectively under extreme deadline pressure. Ability to read, write, fluently speak and understand the English language. Experience in managing small work groups with minimal supervision. Professional appearance and demeanor. Ability to work nights, holidays and weekends.
