Hong Kong Maritime Museum

Dear fellows,

I'm a registrar and librarian of the Hong Kong Maritime Museum. I would like to introduce my working place to you.

HKMM is a non-profit educational institution funded by Hong Kong's international shipping community opened in September 2005 .

Our mission is to stimulate public interest in the world of ships and the sea with particular reference to the South China coast and adjacent seas and to the growth of Hong Kong as a major port and international maritime centre, and in doing so highlight the major developments in and cross-fertilization between Chinese, Asian and western maritime traditions.

As we just gained the funding from the government for moving the entire museum in Central (we are now quite far away from downtown), numerous artefacts about Chinese sailors (local & overseas), navigational instruments, China trade, local fishery, shipping companies, wars etc will be needed to enhance the whole collection. Thus, we are happy to receive donation or loan from various parties. If you or you know someone will be interested to donate, please kindly contact me at moodytang AT hkmaritimemuseum DOT org.

A group of colleagues (i did not get to go) had a learning trip to HK a few year back and visited your museum. They came back with photos! Nice junk!
